FVSBank has been a trusted financial partner in the Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, and Waupun communities for generations – and our roots go back even further than our name.

The Waupun Legacy:  A Community Vision

Our story begins in Waupun in 1924, when 75 community-minded citizens came together with a common goal: to promote the welfare and development of their city.

“This association was formed to promote the welfare and development of our city by providing funds to those who needed financial aid in order to build or buy a home, and also to provide a safe place for the investment of savings and assure a reasonable return on such investment. Businessmen and citizens realized that a building and loan association was necessary for the city of Waupun so that workers at the various factories might find it possible to own their own homes.”

With that vision, the Waupun Building & Loan Association was officially established on February 21, 1924. What started as a bold community initiative soon became a vital part of Waupun’s growth.

A Vision is Born in Fond du Lac

A decade later, another community-driven idea took shape. In the wake of the Great Depression, 50 individuals each contributed $100 to start a new financial instituation focused on rebuilding and supporting families in Fond du Lac. Their vision was approved by the federal government on August 15, 1934, the First Federal Savings and Loan Association held its inaugural meeting and opened its first office in downtown Fond du Lac.

This marked the official beginning of what would eventually become FVSBank.
