Beware of Scam Calls Targeting FVSBank Customers
March 9, 2025
At FVSBank, your security is our top priority. We want to make you aware of a recent scam that has been affecting some of our customers.
Scammers have been calling individuals, claiming there are fraudulent charges on their accounts. In one instance, a customer received a call from a “Restricted” number, with the scammer stating there were suspicious charges from Florida. After providing alarming details, the scammer then asked the customer to verify their username—a major red flag. Fortunately, the customer hung up and called FVSBank directly to confirm the situation.
What Makes This Scam Convincing?
🚨 Scammers appear to have transaction and amount details.
These fraudsters may provide specific transaction information—such as dollar amounts and locations—making it seem like they are affiliated with FVSBank. They are not. This is a tactic used to gain your trust so you’ll provide additional sensitive information, such as your username, last six digits of your debit card, or Social Security Number.
Key Red Flags in These Scam Calls:
🔴 The caller ID may display as “Restricted” or an unfamiliar number.
🔴 Scammers claim there are fraudulent charges on your account.
🔴 They provide transaction details to appear legitimate.
🔴 They ask for sensitive information such as your username, last six digits of your debit card, or Social Security Number.
How to Protect Yourself:
✔ Do not share personal information over the phone unless you initiated the call to a trusted number.
✔ Hang up and call FVSBank directly at 800-242-7880 if you receive a suspicious call.
✔ Monitor your account for any unusual transactions.
✔ If in doubt, visit your local FVSBank branch for assistance.
In the case we mentioned, the customer’s charges were denied, and no fraudulent transactions were made, but the scammers are actively trying to gain access to customer information. If you receive a similar call, DO NOT provide any personal details—call us instead.
